Blogging for money reaches the Mainstream Media in NY Daily News in article about the uses of Social Media

by John A Ciampa on February 23, 2009

Blogging for money is nothing new for those who are already getting paid or paying out. Those are the ones who realized the power of putting out content and giving up something for free to get clients or make sales. Also, big companies that advertise on TV now have realized that traditional commercials and press releases are no longer that effective.

We now live in a time when we can do what we love and monetize it with ease, through sponsorships, barter product reviews, Affiliate Marketing and more. It is easier than you think if you are willing to work as hard for yourself as you do for your boss.

This topic is so hot that NY Daily News dedicated an entire page in their “Money” section about Social Media uses and how to monetize your blogs. In the article called “Blogging for Bucks: How Pros Get Paid for Their Work” the reporter Mildred L. Culp showcases the professional bloggers who get paid or cause marketing for the topics they know the most and love the best.

Oh let me count the ways…. that article is FULLY INSULTING!!! The first blog on the list has been in existence for about 2 years, April of 07! Thats two years as a blogger. It has no affiliate marketing meaning its nothing more then a corporate blog. It is NOT professional blogging, its blogs set up by corporate professionals. The readership on that blog speaks for itself!

The second blog on the list, has only existed sense September of 08! The truth is I can see the second one “trying” to bee a professional blog, but looking at the posting and the post formatting, its clear they have not had a blog prior to this one.

The last of the three on the list ISN’T EVEN A BLOG!!! Although the website does have a blog hosted by wordpress. That means its not professional at all. Wordpress hosted blogs don’t allow any sort of advertising. I think they are confusing professional blogging with corporations setting up blogs :O)

Great post. I’d be honored if you would have a look around my newest blog :o ) Leave a comment if you do!
