What is a Blog vs. What is a Flog
What is a flog? What defines a blog?
A blog is a weblog, an updatable website, where you post articles called blog posts. Your posts might contain pictures, videos besides text, but the most important thing is that blog posts are supposed to have useful content, information and resources about specific topics. Blog posts allow comments, that can be moderate or not by the blog owner. Another important and interesting characteristic is that in a blog you can easily tag the content of your posts by using keywords. That is how your post can be more findable by search engines like Google and Yahoo when people search using the same words you used to tag your content.
The bottom line is that every blog is a website, but not every website is a blog. Nowadays, a lot of people are using their blogs as a website installing plug ins like the WordPress. By doing that, besides a page for your blog, you can create multiple and different pages, like a website, where you can keep static information, like About Us, Prices, Location etc. Comparing to real life, your website is your brochure, and your blog is your news channel.
A flog is a fake blog used by people who don’t really care about quality content or sharing valuable info that may help others. Mostly used by New Age Affiliate Marketers who see this as a way to monetize only to hit a wall sooner than they think. The reason they burn out is that the info is the most important think people are searching for.
Bloggers School moderated a discussion about Flogs and Affiliate Marketing at eComXpo, on July 8th 2009. You can register even though the show is over, it is also free and the content is available for three months, if you want to play back the “Dirty Little Secret Panel”.

Blogging for money reaches the Mainstream Media in NY Daily News in article about the uses of Social Media
Blogging for money is nothing new for those who are already getting paid or paying out. Those are the ones who realized the power of putting out content and giving up something for free to get clients or make sales. Also, big companies that advertise on TV now have realized that traditional commercials and press releases are no longer that effective.
We now live in a time when we can do what we love and monetize it with ease, through sponsorships, barter product reviews, Affiliate Marketing and more. It is easier than you think if you are willing to work as hard for yourself as you do for your boss.
This topic is so hot that NY Daily News dedicated an entire page in their “Money” section about Social Media uses and how to monetize your blogs. In the article called “Blogging for Bucks: How Pros Get Paid for Their Work” the reporter Mildred L. Culp showcases the professional bloggers who get paid or cause marketing for the topics they know the most and love the best.

No matter if you are blogging for money or for passion, your blog is about to blow up!

The Thinker, by Rodin
How do you blog? Why are you blogging? What is your blog about?
Blogs got started as unpretentiously, simple online diaries, and became one of the easiest, faster and funniest way to make money. Why? Because it is all about you! You can choose the topic, and the post, pick the pictures and a template. You are the writer, the publisher, the editor, the audience, all the same time.
People who blog for money naturally blog differently then the ones who blog only for the need of putting their ideas out. Who are being more successful? That is a tricky question.
